Above Ground Pools - Step 6: Using Flocculant and Algaecide
Step 1: Initial Preparation   Step 2: Dose your Pool with Chlorine   Step 3: Test your Pool Water
Step 4: Control pH Levels   Step 5: Shocking the Pool   Step 6: Using Flocculant and Algaecide

The addition of a flocculant and an algaecide will further enhance the quality of your water.

Sparkle Water Clarifier is used to clarify your water by collecting all the fine particles that normally pass through the filter and clumping them together to enable them to get caught in the filter.

To clear cloudy water add 25ml per 1,000 gallons of pool water.
To maintain water clarity add 6mls per 1,000 gallons of pool water on a weekly basis.

Polyquat Algaecide is used as an algae preventative once algae has been killed and removed from your pool.

To treat established algae shock the pool with chlorine to remove the algae then add 100ml per 1,000 gallons of pool water.
To prevent recurrence add 10mls per 1,000 gallons of pool water on a weekly basis.

If you are using Multi-5 Chlorine Granules or Multifunctional Tablets then you will not need to add a separate flocculant or algaecide on a weekly basis as these products include a flocculant and an algaecide in them.

Important Dosing Information

  1. When dosing any granular chemicals ALWAYS add the required amount of chemical to a bucket of pool water and then distribute around the pool.
  2. ALWAYS wash out the bucket you mix chemicals in thoroughly with pool water before and after use.
  3. Whenever the pool is in use, make sure you remove the floating dispenser, close the collar and leave it in a bucket of pool water out of the reach of children.
  4. NEVER mix any chemicals together. Don't worry once they have been added separately to the pool - they are fine!
  5. Make sure all chemicals are stored out of reach from children.
  6. Always wear suitable gloves and eye protection when handling chemicals.
